Our Story
Timber Touch Putter Works began with a passion for blending traditional craftsmanship and modern design. After early challenges and countless trials, we discovered the unique benefits of using wood in putters, such as its exceptional feel and rich sound. Through embracing CAD design and CNC machining, we refined our process to ensure precision in every model. With a growing range of designs and positive feedback from golfers, TimberTouch has evolved into a brand known for its artistry and performance, committed to pushing boundaries and creating putters that stand out on the greens.
It Started with a Suggestion
It all started on a father/son golf trip to southern Tennessee. While on a golf course owned by Payton Manning, I was discussing the new woodworking equipment I had purchased. My son suggested I try making wood putters. As I was a VP of Engineering at a large manufacturing firm, I felt I could design a putter that was truly unique and exceptionally functional. This was the start of this long journey.
Initial Trials and Failures
Like any new venture, our early days were filled with challenges. We experimented with different materials and designs, encountering setbacks as we sought the ideal balance of weight, feel, and durability. Each trial taught us valuable lessons that guided our eventual success.
Realizing What Is Special About Wood
We quickly realized that wood offered unique benefits that metal simply couldn't match. Its natural resilience and ability to deliver rich feedback set it apart. The discovery of the perfect tonewoods gave our putters a warm, pleasing sound at impact—a quality that metal putters lack.
CAD and Design
Embracing technology, we turned to CAD (Computer-Aided Design) to ensure precision in every putter. This allowed us to refine designs with accuracy, testing and perfecting each model before crafting it into reality. CAD helped us maintain consistency while pushing the limits of what a wooden putter can achieve.
Big Steps Forward
Our journey took a major leap when we invested in CNC machining, allowing us to bring complex designs to life with unmatched precision. This step ensured that every putter we produce met our rigorous standards, blending handcrafted artistry with advanced engineering.
Addition of Designs
Over time, we expanded our offerings, introducing styles like the Woodrich Regal, Timberwolf, and Bladewood. Each new design was a result of listening to golfers and finding innovative ways to enhance their experience on the greens, offering choices to match different strokes and preferences.
